Deleted Information Still Appears: How to Remove It

When Talk2Sync fetches updates from a connection, it detects changes to existing records and identifies the data that is still present in the external system. As a result, deleted or missing records are not normally the primary focus of the update detection process.

However, Talk2Sync can detect records that have been deleted from the external system and remove them from the Talk2Sync console when the connection is fully rescanned.

Reset the Discovery Timestamp

To detect records that have been deleted from an external system, you need to reset the last discovered timestamp for the corresponding entity.

In the connection settings, look for the option used to reset the last discovered timestamp for:

  • Products
  • Sales orders

This functionality is normally available under the Scheduler tab.

These timestamps act as synchronization clocks. When you reset them, the next time Talk2Sync fetches updates for that connection, it performs a full scan of the corresponding dataset.

Records that are no longer present in the external system will not be discovered during this scan and will consequently disappear from the Talk2Sync console.

Important: Resetting a synchronization clock causes the corresponding dataset to be rescanned. Use this operation when you need Talk2Sync to reconcile records that have been deleted externally.

Protection Against Mass Deletion

Talk2Sync includes a protection mechanism for situations where the entire external dataset is deleted.

If all products or sales orders are removed from the external system, Talk2Sync interprets this situation as a potential external system malfunction rather than automatically assuming that every record should be deleted.

As a result, Talk2Sync avoids deleting the entire corresponding dataset from the platform.

If you intentionally need to remove all records, the recommended approach is to either:

  • Delete the connection entirely.
  • Keep at least one record in the external system and allow Talk2Sync to detect the remaining records as part of the synchronization process.

This protection helps prevent accidental deletion of an entire dataset caused by an external system failure or unexpected data loss.

Next Steps

  • Open the connection's Scheduler settings.
  • Reset the discovery clock for products or sales orders as required.
  • Run the next update fetch to trigger a full dataset scan.
  • Verify that records deleted from the external system no longer appear in the Talk2Sync console.
